Extended access

Extended access to primary care

There are now more primary care appointments available making it easier for you to get an appointment at a time that suits you in the evenings and at weekends.

The Extended Access Service is an extension of your usual primary care practice. It is not a walk-in service – you need to make an appointment.

The Extended Access Service is located at Mowbray Square in Harrogate. You can get appointments here up to 8pm weekdays and on weekend mornings.

Information about the service is available here or contact reception.

To download an information leaflet about the service Click  here.

Reception may ask for a brief idea of why you are needing an appointment, this is so that they can book you into the most appropriate appointment, for your needs.

When booking any appointment we advise our patients to give the receptionist as much information as possible, this will allow them to book you in to the most appropriate appointment to suit your needs.

Routine Appointments

We would like to kindly remind our patients that when booking a routine appointment they may have to wait up to 4 weeks for their appointment. We advised patients to ensure that they book these in advance. Our waiting time of up to 4 weeks is a national average for routine GP appointments.

Urgent Appointments

Urgent morning appointments are released each morning at 8:00 am and urgent afternoon appointments are released each afternoon at 1:00 pm. Reception may ask for a brief idea of why you require an urgent appointment, this is so they can help you be seen by the most appropriate clinician, this also helps to filter the appointments to ensure that the emergency appointments are seen first. If you receive an urgent on the day appointmentnt, you may be given a telephone call first, if so the doctor can ask you to come in later on in the day.

Which doctor?

As a patient, you are registered with the practice, not an individual GP. You can make an appointment with any of the Doctors at the practice. As medical records are now computerised, all Doctors, at any site can access your details. If you prefer, you can make an appointment with a Doctor of your choice. You may need to wait longer to get an appointment with a specific Doctor of your choice, as they may be in high demand at the time.
